Residents of border communities in Ogun, Lagos, Adamawa, Katsina and Sokoto states are groaning following the Federal Government’s suspension of fuel supply to areas within 20 kilometres to the nation’s borders. The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, had directed that no petroleum products should be supplied to any filling station within 20 kilometres to the borders.

The federal government has taken a huge step in its fight against smuggling by announcing the suspension of diesel and petrol supply to filling stations within 20 kilometres radius to all Nigerian borders The directive was contained in a memo circulated to Customs command from its headquarters. “The Comptroller General of Customs has directed that henceforth no petroleum products, no matter the tank size is permitted to be discharged in any filling station within 20 kilometers to the border. “Consequently, you are to ensure strict and immediate compliance please,” the memo read in part. FG declares Monday November 11th public holiday The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday November 11th as public holiday to mark the 2019 Eid-ul-Mawlud in commemoration of the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. The Minister of Interior, Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the federal government. He congratulated Muslims on the occasion and enjoined them to live within the virtues and teachings of Prophet Muhammad which are; love, courage and perseverance.
